Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni believes that even though facing Liverpool at Anfield tomorrow will not be easy, he and his teammates are still capable of getting the result they need to go through.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the 22-year-old emphasized that the team will go into the clash fully believing that they can try to make it to the quarter-finals of the competition.

The Nerazzurri must win by two clear goals against the Reds to have any chance of getting out of the tie, and doing this away at Anfield will be one of the most difficult tasks, if not the single most difficult task, of the season for the team.

However, the team have reasons to be confident, not least the fact that in spite of the disappointing result in the first leg, the performance was encouraging and suggested that they can go toe-to-toe with the Reds.

Now, the important thing will be to show this level again, and Bastoni believes that the Nerazzurri are capable of it.

“We also knew within our group that we have not lost our quality within the last month, and that we are still the same team that won the Supercoppa,” he said.

“There is certainly a lot of trust in each other,” he continued, “we have always had it, and our performance with Salernitana will help us to give our best tomorrow.”

He went on that “Liverpool are among the best teams in Europe, they are used to playing certain games and at certain stages.”

“I think that this difference was not seen in the first leg, however,” he continued. “We had a great game decided by two episodes on dead balls, so we will try to put even more intensity into it this time.”

“We know it will be difficult,” he admitted, “but we will go for it. I’ve grown a lot since I’ve been at Inter, playing certain games helps a lot.”

“Sometimes I think it’s not easy to manage the pressure you feel in certain teams but I like to feel pressure and have responsibility, so I keep going,” he added.
