Inter Put Faith In Lautaro Martinez To Lead The Way In Champions League Vs Liverpool, Italian Media Report

Inter have faith that striker Lautaro Martinez can be the man to lead them to a comeback win over Liverpool in the Champions League this evening.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the club are fully behind the Argentine, who they believe can break his Champions League scoring duck against the Reds.
Martinez has gone 490 days without scoring in Europe’s top competition, with the 24-year-old’s last goal coming against Real Madrid in a 3-2 group stage loss last season.
However, the striker is still considered to be the focal point of the team’s attack, and the club believe that if anyone can inspire an improbable comeback in this evening’s round of sixteen second leg it is him.
The Argentine had been in rather miserable form in front of goal in the last few weeks, but a hat-trick against Salernitana on Friday evening saw him back to his confident best, and not a moment too soon.
Now, the Nerazzurri feel confident that Martinez will be up for it against Liverpool this evening, and that if he shows his best then they have a real chance to turn the first leg deficit around.
