Inter wing-back Denzel Dumfries believes that he and his teammates are capable of turning their Champions League round of sixteen tie against Liverpool around this evening.

Speaking to InterTV before kickoff, the Dutchman emphasized that after their positive display in the first leg three weeks ago, they believe that they can do it even though it will be a sizable task.

The Nerazzurri lost 2-0 in the first leg after second-half goals from the likes of Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, but they had gone toe-to-toe with the Reds and even looked to have had the better of it for long spells.

Now, the team must play the way that they did in the first leg and also hope for a bit of luck as they aim to overhaul the deficit against one of the best teams in Europe in one of the continent’s most intimidating away grounds.

Dumfries understands the scale of the Nerazzurri’s task, but he wants to go for it and reach the quarter-finals.

“I hope we can move on because we want to keep going in the competition,” he said, “it will be a great match. It’ll be very difficult but we have to believe we can do it after the performance at San Siro.”

He added that “We believe, because in the first leg we controlled the game very well, we have confidence and we have everything we need to try and win the match.”
