Italian journalist Giuseppe Cruciani believes that Inter are set for a narrow loss to Liverpool in this evening’s Champions League round of sixteen second leg.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, the journalist gave the view that the Nerazzurri should get on the scoresheet, but that a patient Liverpool team will keep them from winning and will pick them off on the counter.

Inter not only need to win against the Reds this evening, but they must win by two clear goals if they are to have any hope of progressing to the quarter-finals of Europe’s top competition.

This will be preying on the minds of the team as they approach a match where getting any result at all would be difficult at the best of times, against one of Europe’s strongest teams in a hostile away ground.

The Nerazzurri will likely push for a goal knowing that they have nothing left to lose, but Cruciani believes that even if they perform well, they will likely lose on the night as well as on aggregate.

“I have to rely on logic after the result of the first leg,” he said. “Liverpool are not interested in pressing too much, Inter must try to score – my intuition tells me that it will end 2-1 to Liverpool.”
