Inter forward Alexis Sanchez has been harshly criticized in Italian media following his red card against Liverpool in yesterday evening’s Champions League clash.

The 33-year-old received failing grades across the board for his display in the player ratings for the match in Italian media, as highlighted by L’Interista, with his rash sending off the main reason for the low scores.

Sanchez had not put in a bad display in the must-win knockout clash at Anfield, helping the team to a bright first-half performance, but he deservedly received a yellow card for a late challenge on Thiago Alcantara.

Then, in the second half, the Chilean spoiled the moment just after the Nerazzurri went 1-0 up on the night and gave themselves hope in the tie by getting booked again for a similar tackle on Fabinho.

Sanchez received a 4/10 for his display in the player ratings of the Gazzetta dello Sport, whilst all of TuttoMercatoWeb, L’Interista, and the Corriere dello Sport awarded him a marginally better grade of 4.5/10.
