Italian journalist Paolo Condo feels that Inter defender Milan Skriniar has established himself as a top-class defender in a long tradition at his club.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Condo praised the 27-year-old after his defensive display against Liverpool to keep a clean sheet in yesterday evening’s 1-0 win, and suggested that the player is part of a long lineage at the Nerazzurri.

Skriniar, along with the frame of the goal, was the principle reason that Liverpool were unable to find the back of the net at Anfield to suffer their first home loss in more than a year.

The Slovak defender has impressed with his displays since joining from Sampdoria in 2017, and now he is virtually indispensable at the back for his team.

Inter have been privileged by many elite defenders over the years, from Beppe Bergomi to Fabio Cannavaro to Lucio, and in the view of Condo, Skriniar is another in this long line.

“I’ve always liked Skriniar,” he said. “He’s part of a dynasty of great Inter defenders that starts with Ferri, passes through Materazzi and Samuel, and now reaches Skriniar. He gets angry even if he scores for 3-0, he’s a pillar of Inter.”
