Inter President Steven Zhang is pleased with Inter’s European development over recent years and under Simone Inzaghi, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the president was present at the match and around the changing rooms in Liverpool when the Nerazzurri were knocked out of the Champions League.

Inter won the game 1-0 but it was not enough to overturn the 2-0 defeat from the first leg and progress to the next round. Despite the elimination, Steven Zhang is happy that Inter finally reached this stage of the tournament and won a match against an elite European team.

The development is shown by the UEFA coefficient rankings which are worked out from European results over the past five seasons. Inter’s is now 67,000. Before Suning took over the club, it was down to 44,000.

Inter want to use this development positively in the summer transfer window.
