Italian journalist Paolo Condo believes that Inter gave everything that they had to try and beat Liverpool over the course of two legs in the Champions League.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Condo suggested that the Nerazzurri proved that they could go toe-to-toe with the Reds as they attempted to overturn a first leg deficit.

Inter employed their usual tactics against Liverpool, believing that even against one of Europe’s most formidable teams they could try to press aggressively and dominate possession of the ball.

In the first half especially the Nerazzurri enjoyed many encouraging spells and never allowed the hosts to settle, whilst they did manage to score during the second half.

In the end, the goal and the performance weren’t enough to stage an improbable comeback, but the team did certainly show the belief that they could do what they needed to to go on in the competition.

“I have great respect for Inter,” Condo said, “and for this reason I think they regret yesterday’s match, where they did everything possible and it was a lot.”
