Former Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi has criticised the way Inter played for the last 10 minutes against Liverpool on Tuesday night, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with TMW Radio, Alessio Tacchinardi explained that whilst he understands Inter were down to 10 players, he expected them to attack the hosts more and try to force an equaliser and extra time.

“I was amazed how Inter played the last ten minutes. It is true that they were down to ten, but they didn’t try to do anything, they barricaded themselves behind the ball.”

He then suggested that Inter must have some regrets over the way they ended up being eliminated from the tournament.

“For the great coach that is Simone Inzaghi, I thought it was strange. Inter were eliminated even with some regrets.”

Inter had scored in the second half at Anfield on Tuesday night which meant they needed just one more goal to go to extra time and stand a chance of going through to the quarter finals.

Alexis Sanchez then received a red card with almost half an hour left to play which made it much harder for Inter.

Simone Inzaghi appeared to prioritise the Serie A title race.
