Inter manager Simone Inzaghi was a fundamental part of Lautaro Martinez’s return to goalscoring form this season, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport today, the relationship between the head coach and the Argentine forward was very important when it came to keeping the players head up when he did not score in Serie A between December and last week’s game against Salernitana.

He had come under much criticism from fans and pundits for his lack of goals but he then scored a hat-trick in the 5-0 win over Salernitana.

He followed that up with a wonderful strike at Anfield against Liverpool that gave Inter a 1-0 victory. Unfortunately that win was not enough to see the Nerazzurri through to the quarter-final of the Champions League as they lost 2-1 on aggregate.

It is clear Simone Inzaghi’s man-management skills work on Lautaro Martinez.
