Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic is set to extend his stay at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and sign a new contract at the club.

According to L’Interista.it, the Slovenia international has decided to remain at the club beyond the end of his existing deal, set to expire this summer, and has indicated his desire to discuss a new contract.

It comes despite the impending arrival of Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, but Handanovic is ready to remain and fight for his place in the starting line-up, with the former Udinese shot-stopper willing to pen a one-year extension.

Handanovic’s agent, Fali Ramadani, is expected in Milan by the end of the month to meet with Inter and finalise the details on a new contract, which would see the goalkeeper serve an 11th season at the club.

The 37-year-old joined Inter from Udinese in 2012 and has made 427 appearances for the Nerazzurri, captaining the club to the Scudetto last season.
