Despite enduring a difficult first season, Romelu Lukaku has no intention of leaving Chelsea and is growing irritated at talk of him pushing for a return to Inter.

According to British newspaper outlet The Telegraph, suggestions that the Belgium international is seeking a way out of Stamford Bridge after Chelsea were crippled by financial sanctions against owner Roman Abramovich have angered him.

The West London club face an uncertain financial future after Abramovich was added to a list of sanctioned individuals by the UK government due to alleged ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, as part of the response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Having departed Inter last summer in a €113 million deal, speculation had mounted that the Nerazzurri would look to bring him back, and would be boosted by Chelsea’s current situation.

However, it is reported that this has frustrated Lukaku and he is reported to be shocked at suggestions that he would seek to exploit Chelsea’s difficulties, and has instead sought to rally the squad so that they can focus on seeing out the remainder of the season with as few disruptions as possible.

Lukaku has scored just 11 times in 31 appearances this season, after firing Inter to the Scudetto last term with 24 Serie A goals.
