Inter captain Samir Handanovic no longer looks like a player who adds tangible value to his team with his performances, according to Italian media.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who suggest that the 37-year-old’s performance against Torino in yesterday’s 1-1 draw demonstrated how he is no longer at his best.
Handanovic has been an important player for the Nerazzurri over his decade at the club, with his shot-stopping prowess key to bailing the team out and saving important results.
This season, however, the Slovenian has come in for some criticism for a number of high-profile errors, although he has also went some way towards answering his critics with some vital saves in matches.
Against the Granata, Handanovic’s present inconsistency was in full display, as the captain made an important save on an effort by Armando Izzo to keep the score at 0-1, but looked shaky throughout and perhaps could have done better to prevent the situation that led to Bremer’s early opener.
