Matias Vecino’s unsuitability to back up Marcelo Brozovic in the regista role for Inter was made clear by his poor display against Torino in yesterday evening’s 1-1 draw.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who gave the 30-year-old just a 5/10 score for his performance in the player ratings for the match.

Brozovic missed yesterday’s match through a muscle injury and so coach Simone Inzaghi had a decision to make as to how to replace the Croat in the squad, and he decided on Vecino in Brozovic’s role.

The Uruguayan never looked comfortable playing at the base of midfield, however, as the game passed him by and he failed to put his stamp on the midfield against the Granata’s well-executed high press.

Brozovic’s irreplaceability was further highlighted, after he had also been absent when the Nerazzurri slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Sassuolo last month, and so were the flaws in Vecino’s game according to the Corriere.
