Former Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo believes that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will prove himself in the decisive final matches of the Serie A campaign this season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, the 36-year-old hailed the coach’s qualities under pressure, having spent several seasons working with him together at Lazio.

Inzaghi had five successful seasons in charge of the Biancocelesti, and while the pressure in the Italian capital was never quite what it is at Inter in terms of results, he faced many hurdles successfully to establish his reputation.

Parolo had been a regular in those Lazio teams under Inzaghi, and he believes that the coach has a special ability to find his best moments in the periods where the team needs him both.

With Inter having relinquished a solid lead at the top of the table to find themselves once again chasing AC Milan and Lazio they will need the coach to show that he can navigate a high-pressure situation, and Parolo feels that he will be vindicated.

“The Nerazzurri are where they should be today,” he said, “in the race for the Scudetto, it would have been more amazing if they were ten points behind the second-placed team.”

“Their decline is physiological,” he went on, “let’s not forget the kind of summer they experienced, but Inzaghi will be able to recover, in difficult moments he doesn’t miss a beat and gives his best.”
