Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi could have to take bold tactical action in order to get the best out of his team in the decisive final ten matches of their Serie A season.

This is the suggestion in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who argue that the Nerazzurri coach must have the courage to make tactical changes when necessary, with the usual setup look brittle and stale.

Inter’s run of two wins out of their last six Serie A matches has plainly not been good enough form to go on and win the Scudetto, and has already seen them fall behind at the top of the table.

The coach has largely played the same 3-5-2 formation that he has trusted all season, with only a few minor alterations in personnel, and it has not been enough to see his team take maximum points from many of their matches.

However, opposition coaches have appeared to have the Nerazzurri’s passing combinations and shape well-scouted, making it less effective than before even when the best players have all been available.

Moreover, in both matches where Marcelo Brozovic was unavailable, against Sassuolo and Torino, the Nerazzurri have dropped points as the system’s reliance on the Croatian to function has been exposed.

The Gazzetta argue that Inter could turn to a more attacking 3-4-1-2 shape for a number of their fixtures, with Hakan Calhanoglu playing as an attacking midfielder playing the final passes and getting opportunities to shoot, to tighten their grip on matches in attack.

Furthermore, the newspaper suggest that the coach could make January signing Robin Gosens a regular in the starting eleven, and allow Ivan Perisic to alternate with Denzel Dumfries on the right.

Lastly, the Gazzetta argue that the Nerazzurri must get the best out of experienced Chilean duo Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal, who have proved that they can give the team a spark of life this season.
