Inter-linked goalkeeper Andre Onana is set to start for Ajax in their Champions League round of sixteen second leg against Benfica this evening.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that with other options not available, the Cameroonian will play from the start for the Dutch champions.

Onana is set for a move to the Nerazzurri on a free transfer in the summer, having already completed his medicals for the move, but he remains an Ajax player for the remainder of the season.

The 25-year-old has not started regularly for Ajax, having only returned from a one-year doping suspension at the beginning of November, but he has been brought back into the team.

In their Champions League clash with Benfica, the Dutch side will be without Marten Stekelenburg who is out for the season, as well as Remko Pasveer, who has broken his finger, and so Onana is set to play from the start in the clash.
