Former Roma and Valencia defender Amadeo Carboni believes that Inter have the slight edge in the Scudetto race but that all three of the top sides are allowing Juventus back into contention.

Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Carboni suggested that the Nerazzurri as well as AC Milan and Napoli have given the Bianconeri a path back to the Serie A title with their recent struggles.

Inter, Milan, and Napoli had looked to have a three-way title race in Serie A as recently as a few weeks ago, whilst the position that Juventus found themselves in earlier in the season always looked like an untenable one from which to mount a title challenge.

The Bianconeri suffered a torrid start to the campaign, and even after they picked themselves up it seemed unlikely that they would be able to make up the ground on Inter in particular.

However, in recent weeks the three sides ahead of the Bianconeri have been out of form, Inter in particular, and this has meant that while the Bianconeri still have a way to go before they can really catch up, they are no longer out of the conversation.

“If we analyze the squads of the four teams, Inter are probably the one that have something more,” Carboni said.

Of the Nerazzurri’s downturn in form he said that “They happen to everyone throughout the season, but if they occur in March as is happening to Inter, the risks increase. Juve don’t play well, but they win.”

He gave the opinion that “The top three are doing everything they can to let Juve back into the title picture.”
