Inter defender Stefan de Vrij is hoping for a return to fitness from his calf injury in time to play against Juventus in the Serie A clash after the international break.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Dutchman will miss out on the Netherlands’ matches during the international break but hopes to be back to face the Bianconeri.

De Vrij missed out on Sunday’s Serie A clash with Torino through a calf problem which he picked up during the Nerazzurri’s Champions League round of sixteen second leg against Liverpool, and he is certain to miss this weekend’s match against Fiorentina as well.

The problem will also rule the 30-year-old out for long enough that he will not participate in any of his national team’s matches over the break.

However, it is not yet clear whether he will be back in time to play against Juventus, but this is is target.
