Inter have made Ajax striker Sebastien Haller their backup option at striker in the event that they are unable to sign Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca during the summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Ivorian would be seen as the main alternative to Scamacca should talks for the Neroverdi player stall.

Scamacca has been one of Inter’s primary targets for the summer transfer window, but talks with his club have not progressed since the middle of February.

This does not mean that the 23-year-old isn’t still a key target or that talks have broken down, but it is not yet certain that they will get a deal over the line for him.

Haller is another player who the Nerazzurri have admired for some time, and with the 27-year-old likely available for around €35 million, they could sign him in the event that their pursuit of Scamacca fails.
