Former Inter defender Fulvio Collovati has said that Inter are not the Scudetto favourites and they must start to look at a future without Edin Dzeko, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with FCInter1908, Fulvio Collovati said that Inter are not the number one favourite to win the Scudetto anymore.

“Inter are not the number one favourite, but they are among the favourites to win the Scudetto.”

He then expanded on that, saying that AC Milan are the best placed to win the title.

“In my opinion, Milan are doing very well. I think they are a more formidable antagonist than Napoli.”

The idea was put to Fulvio Collovati that Inter could sell Lautaro Martinez at the end of the season in order to fund other purchases. He suggested that they keep the Argentine and think more about replacing Edin Dzeko.

“Absolutely not. Lautaro must represent the reference point of excellence for the present and the future. Rather, we need to start looking beyond Dzeko.”

There is one player at Sassuolo that Inter are heavily linked with as the Edin Dzeko replacement and that is who Fulvio Collovati also chooses: “Gianluca Scamacca seems to be a very interesting prospect.”

Another player that Inter are linked with is Juventus’ Paulo Dybala as he is out of contract at the end of the season. Fulvio Collovati has doubts though about the Argentine’s injury record and high wages.

“Dybala would play well everywhere. There is only one dilemma: is it worth investing a large amount of money, for a footballer at the mercy of his physical problems? In any case, his class cannot be discussed.”
