Former Inter midfielder Benoit Cauet has said that Inter have everything that they need to recover in the Serie A title race and win the title again, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by FCInternews, Benoit Cauet seems to have confidence in the Inter players and in Simone Inzaghi that they can still win the title despite losing their grip on the title race.

“His teams had difficulties in the second half of the season, it’s a fact. I think Lazio is one thing, Inter another. There has been a decline, but Inter have all the weapons, the potential and the experience to recover.”

Benoit Cauet was asked if he would rather see Romelu Lukaku come back to Inter next season or Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca join the club. He chose the Belgian forward as it has already been seen what he can do in an Inter shirt.

“Lukaku found himself very well with Lautaro Martinez, it is obvious that my preference goes to him because we already know who he is.

“Scamacca, on the other hand, today is a player that I would take as a hope that he can give you a lot, but we do not yet know what he could really give, even though we know that he is a player of the highest level.”

Federico Dimarco is a player that Benoit Cauet has worked with in the past and he is clearly very proud of the Italian defender.

“A player who has grown a lot, a great player with an extraordinary foot. He is revealing himself in a great team like Inter Milan, something that has never been easy.

“This makes me happy because the Inter youth sector has always produced a lot but returning to Inter he is showing his qualities. I saw him grow, he worked well.”

On Joaquin Correa, Benoit Cauet feels he must find continuity for his clear talent.

“He drove me crazy when he was at Sevilla and Lazio, he is a decisive player. He has the class to do well, then it is clear that he must have continuity and if he always has problems it is complicated.”
