Hoffenheim midfielder Florian Grillitsch could be signed by Inter as a backup for Marcelo Brozovic next season, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com, it has become clear to the Inter directors that no one in the current squad can effectively replace Marcelo Brozovic when he is injured or suspended.

The team lacks a certain cohesion when he is not on the pitch but he cannot play every game of the season.

Inter youngster Lucien Agoume has often been touted for the role but Inter feel he will play a different role in the squad when he returns from his loan spell at Stade Brest in France.

A player in the Bundesliga is now being linked with the role instead. Hoffenheim’s Austrian midfielder Florian Grillitsch is out of contract with the German side in the summer and he is seen as a good low-cost option.
