Inter wing back Ivan Perisic has said that he will never forget the first time he played for Inter despite now playing over 250 times for the club, according to a report in the Italian print media.

Speaking during an interview with the club for the matchday programme, via FCInternews, the Croatian winger explained that the memory of first playing for Inter is something that will never leave him.

I played almost 250 games with this shirt, but I will never forget the first one. Making my debut in the derby was an indescribable emotion, something unique. I still remember all the sensations I felt when I entered San Siro wearing these colours for the first time.”

Speaking openly about his childhood, Ivan Perisic explained that he was always a very active child and his overall goal was to play for the Croatian national team and a great club side.

As a child I was full of energy, I always liked sport, it helped me to test myself, challenge others and myself. I played basketball, football, tennis. I never stood still!

“I always had the dream of becoming an important player for Croatia and for a great team and I have achieved it.”

Ivan Perisic says he has a lot of fun when he faces fellow wing back Denzel Dumfries in training.

In training I have a lot of fun when I face Dumfries: he’s a tough guy, physical and strong.”

He also emphasised the fact that the team winning a goal is more important to him than whether he scored a goal or not, although he did pick his favourite Inter goal.

The most important goal? It’s always the one that decides the game and as I always say, the main thing is that the team wins. If I have to choose between those I scored, I choose the one against Juventus in the victory in September 2016.

“In my career I have understood that you must always play for the team. They are in a strong, mature group, aware of their own means and with a great desire to win. I know how important it is to fight for every ball.”
