Inter should not feel shame about their Champions League journey this season but Juventus’ elimination is problematic for Italian football, according to a report in the Italian media.
As has been claimed by a piece in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Italian teams do not seem very close at all to the latter stages of the Champions League right now.
As for this year, Inter can be happy with reaching the Round of 16 and being knocked out by a team as good as Liverpool. That being said, their wastefulness in front of goal must not be forgotten.
AC Milan were the victim of a very tough group that involved Liverpool and Atletico Madrid who are now in the quarter-finals.
Atalanta almost qualified but were beaten at the end by Villareal who have also now reached the quarter-finals.
As for Juventus, they are a team who have spent a lot of money and that still was not enough to get past a Villareal team that on paper are much weaker.
