Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni feels that the team must get back to showing the form that they had been earlier in the season as soon as possible.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of this evening’s Serie A clash with Fiorentina, the 22-year-old emphasized the need for the Nerazzurri to show the best version of themselves in the decisive run-in for the Serie A title race.

Inter had been the form team in the Italian top flight during November and December especially, but since the beginning of February they have experienced their rockiest period of the entire campaign.

This has left the Nerazzurri chasing city rivals AC Milan as well as Napoli in the table, though the title race remains extremely tight and there for any of the three teams.

The destination of the Scudetto looks set to be decided by which of the main rivals can look like the best version of themselves during the last couple months of the campaign, and Bastoni and his teammates are hoping that their strongest form can emerge again.

“We’re coming off the back of a difficult month and we have to muster all our strength for one final big push and reverse the trend of our recent form,” he said.

He went on that “Our style of play has always been a team game, in both defense and attack. We have to go back to what we were until two months ago. The group must be good to turn this situation around.”
