Inter are hoping that midfielder Marcelo Brozovic will not be called up for the Croatian national team’s friendlies against Slovenia and Bulgaria over the international break.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the 29-year-old will be out of action in this evening’s Serie A clash with Fiorentina whilst the club hope that he can rest during the international break.

Brozovic had been included in Croatia’s squad for the friendlies over the upcoming international break, but it remains to be seen whether he will actually participate in the matches or even be with the squad.

The Croat missed last weekend’s clash with Torino with the calf injury which he picked up against Liverpool, and despite trying to recover in time to face Fiorentina the problem is too serious to play this evening.

Inter are hoping to get the best out of Brozovic during their run-in for the season across all competitions, and they are hoping not to see his fitness compromised during the break.
