Inter are still the favourites to sign Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca this summer despite the recent emergence of city rivals AC Milan as contenders for his signature.

This according to journalist Niccolo Ceccarini, who reported in his column for Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb that the two Milan clubs are the main suitors for Scamacca’s signature but that the Nerazzurri lead the chase.

Scamacca has been widely reported as one of Inter’s main targets in attack as they look to bolster the team with a young striker who they can build around for the future.

The Nerazzurri have reportedly been in talks about the 23-year-old for some time, though no progress has been made in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, the Rossoneri are also interested in Scamacca’s signature, and have been reportedly working towards trying to sign him in recent weeks.

Ceccarini confirms that Milan are in the race for the striker with Inter, but also that the Nerazzurri remain ahead of the Rossoneri.

“Milan are evaluating the possibility of signing Scamacca, even if Inter remain in the lead for the Sassuolo striker,” he writes.
