Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini has given an update on Inter’s plans for the squad, confirming that the club are pursuing Ajax striker Sebastien Haller and also that they are working to extend Milan Skriniar’s contract.

Writing in his column for Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the journalist reported that the Nerazzurri are trying to make progress on the signing of the Ivorian striker.

Haller has been linked as a serious target in attack for Inter in the summer transfer window, and Ceccarini reports that there is indeed a serious interest in signing him from the Dutch champions.

Of the Nerazzurri’s plans in attack, he writes that “The objective remains a central striker. Scamacca remains in pole position but Marotta and Ausilio are also active on other fronts.”

“A return for Romelu Lukaku, which would only be on loan, is a dream,” he continued, “Haller at Ajax is also among the players being worked on, however the Lancers are asking for no less than €35 million.”

Ceccarini also updated on the situation with Milan Skriniar, with the defender’s current deal set to expire at the end of June 2023, but the club determined to secure his future in the team given his importance.

“The Slovakian central defender is essential, even more so if De Vrij leaves,” he writes, “their goal is to secure him until 2027.”
