Marcelo Brozovic has been a key player for Inter this season, and his importance to the team has never been more apparent than when he hasn’t been on the pitch.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who note that the Nerazzurri have not won any of the three Serie A matches where the Croat hasn’t started.

Brozovovic had mostly been an ever-present in the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven until the end of February, when he was suspended for Inter’s Serie A clash with Sassuolo.

In that match, Inter lost 2-0, and in the first half in particular the team looked to have been overrun in the centre of the pitch without Brozovic’s influence.

The team have been without the 29-year-old for their past two matches, 1-1 draws with Torino and Fiorentina, and in both of these fixtures they have tried makeshift solutions to balance their midfield with little success.
