Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic has not joined up with the Croatian national team ahead of their international break fixtures, and he will instead stay and train with the Nerazzurri.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the 29-year-old will not be called up for his national team’s friendly matches against the likes of Bulgaria and Slovenia.

Brozovic was included in Croatia’s squad for the friendlies, but it had been unclear whether he would be ready to participate in the matches due to the calf injury which has kept him out recently.

The midfielder has missed the Nerazzurri’s past two matches, Serie A draws against Torino and Fiorentina, and the club are hoping that he will be able to get back to full fitness soon.

The issue is not a serious one and it should not be long before he is recovered, but the club do not want to take any chances, and he will train with the squad and rest ahead of the away match against Juventus after the break.
