River Plate are interested in signing Inter forward Alexis Sanchez during the summer transfer window.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, who report that the Argentine giants are keen on a move for the 33-year-old, and could try to bring him in at the end of the current season.

Sanchez has already spent a season at River Plate, having played for the club on loan from Udinese during the 2007-08 season.

The Chilean looks increasingly likely to depart from Inter during the summer transfer window, and River look to be among the clubs with the most serious interest in his signature.

It remains to be seen whether Sanchez would be open to making the switch to the Argentine club or whether he would prefer to remain at a European club.

Sanchez made 31 appearances and score four goals across all competitions in his single season on loan with River Plate, and went on to play for the likes of Barcelona, Arsenal, and Manchester United before joining Inter.
