Former Inter striker Nicola Ventola feels that current Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has failed to meet expectations due to his lack of tactical versatility.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, Ventola expressed disappointment that the Nerazzurri coach has stuck with his Plan A approach even when it hasn’t been working.

Inzaghi got off to a bright start to life as Inter coach, with the former Lazio boss having looked to have quickly implemented his ideas within the team.

The Nerazzurri got positive results, surging to the top of the Serie A table and reaching the knockout rounds of the Champions League playing a distinctive brand of football.

However, in recent weeks Inter’s form has fallen off badly, and Ventola has identified the coach’s reluctance to make bold changes as being at the heart of their issues.

“My big disappointment is Inzaghi,” he said, “he’s flat. In a moment of difficulty, he doesn’t come up with anything new.:

“The substitutions are always the same,” he went on, “you can’t always just change the two strikers. He has to read the games better, he has to change things up perhaps even in terms of the formation.”

He reflected that :I’ve never seen an Inter so beautiful as the one at the beginning of the season, I expect more from the coach.”
