Former Nerazzurri and Rossoneri coach Alberto Zaccheroni believes that AC Milan have the advantage of consistency over Inter in the Serie A title race.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition, the coach suggested that for all of the Nerazzurri’s quality, their struggle for consistency could be their fatal flaw in the Scudetto race.

The Nerazzurri have looked very strong at points during the season, but their form in recent weeks has raised serious doubts over their ability to maintain their best form throughout the season and consistently pick up points.

Milan and also Napoli have also dropped points and had bad spells during the campaign, but in their case they have always picked themselves back up and gotten the results they need, the former especially.

Zaccheroni sees this as the decisive element that can swing the title race in favour of the Rossoneri.

“Milan are the most consistent team in the league,” he said, “a factor that  could certainly be decisive in the end. Inter may have more quality and character, Napoli are there and for them it would be the chance of a lifetime.”

“But in this phase of the season it is fundamental pick up a rhythm and not lose it,” he stressed. “Milan did so, the others are still inconsistent, especially Inter.”
