Inter and AC Milan have not yet formally made the request to cease using the San Siro to the municipality of Milan ahead of plans to move to a new stadium.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who report that the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri continue to be at a stalemate with the city council over their plans.

Inter and Milan currently have a contract with the city to use the San Siro, which expires in 2030 and has allowed the clubs to use the stadium for their home matches despite not technically owning it.

The clubs plan to build a new stadium, however, which they hope to construct in the area where the San Siro currently stands, demolishing the existing stadium to make way for it.

The city council has begun a process of public debate on the plans, but without an official request to cease using the San Siro by either of the clubs and an updated dossier on their plans, it cannot move forward.

Given the stalemate, the two clubs could decide to build the stadium elsewhere, a plan which the city would wish to avoid.
