Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi feels that Inter’s Nicolo Barella is the top midfielder in Serie A.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, the 22-year-old named Barella as the best player in his position in the Italian top flight, and also spoke of the possibility of joining a top club along with teammate and fellow Inter target Gianluca Scamacca.

Frattesi has impressed this season with his performances in Serie A, showing that he is up to the task his first campaign in the top flight and becoming ever-present in the Neroverdi’s starting eleven.

The 22-year-old’s form in Reggio-Emilia has marked him out as a target for a number of clubs, with the Nerazzurri reportedly eyeing him up as a quality young player to reinforce their midfield.

Were he to arrive at Inter, Frattesi would share a midfield with Barella, though he feels that even with his own excellent form this campaign, he cannot match up to the Nerazzurri man.

“Barella is the top player in the league in his position,” he said. “As good as he is he could score even more goals. He is clearly the best in Italy at the moment.”

He also spoke about his teammate and friend Scamacca, another Inter target, stating that “I told him: ‘I recommend you move to a top club so I’ll follow you there as well.'”
