Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi must get the squad firing on a mental level again ahead of their Serie A clash with Juventus after the international break.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, who report that the Nerazzurri coach is aiming to bring back the sense of hunger and self-belief that drove them during their best period of the season.

The expectations at Inter are no longer that finishing in a place in the top four would be good enough, as had been the case at the beginning of the season.

The team’s performances in the fall showed that they are capable of displaying Scudetto-winning form, and now the pressure is on to fight for the Serie A title until the end.

The team has slumped in form badly just as this expectation started to reach a fever pitch, and now they are chasing the likes of AC Milan and Napoli in the table.

The chance to fight for the Serie A title is still very much there in the run-in for the season, but they immediately face a significant test in the form of their away clash with Juventus on the other side of the break.

If Inzaghi can push his players to the kind of confident form that they had in November and December then it will be on for them, but if he can’t then they may have to settle for losing out on a Scudetto whose destiny they once looked firmly in control of.
