There are two main reasons as to why Inter extended Marcelo Brozovic’s contract, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport today, the midfielder’s extension is down to both his ability on the pitch and the difficulty Inter would have in replacing him.

It has been shown in the last two games against Torino and Fiorentina that Inter really struggle without him in the team. They drew both those games 1-1 and lacked intensity from the midfield.

That is the football reason for signing him onto a new contract but it was also necessary because Inter would have had to spend a huge amount of money to buy someone that can effectively replace him in the team for a whole season.

The Croatian is aiming to be fit again and ready to start in time for Inter’s huge match against Juventus after the international break.
