Inter are working on deciding who will be the backup defenders next season to Alessandro Bastoni, Milan Skriniar, and Stefan de Vrij, according to a report in the Italian print media.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport today, it is now accepted at Inter that Federico Dimarco is best used as a left sided centre back which makes him the natural replacement for Alessandro Bastoni when needed.

As for Danilo D’Ambrosio on the right side, he has shown this season that he can still be of use to Simone Inzaghi’s side and is therefore likely to be offered a new contract at the end of the campaign.

That leaves someone as the backup for Milan Skiriniar who could find himself in the middle of the three if Stefan de Vrjij is sold.

The club must decide if they want to keep Andrea Ranocchia in that role for another season or not.
