Mayor of Milan Beppe Sala has said that the ministry are currently trying to find a coordinator for the public debate on the new San Siro stadium, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by FCInternews today, the Mayor has said that the ministry have been asked to find a coordinator after it was announced that Inter and AC Milan would accept a public debate on their new stadium.

“We have made a formal request to the ministry to find out if they had a coordinator for the public debate available. They informally anticipated that they do not have one and they are writing to us. It will not take long.”

Beppe Sala said that once a coordinator has been found, it becomes their responsibility to carry out the work as quickly as possible without cutting corners.

“From then on it becomes the coordinator’s responsibility and my message to the coordinator will be ‘hurry up and do well’. The two things can be done together, you don’t have to take unnecessary time but you have to do what needs to be done.”

The situation around Inter and AC Milan’s desired new stadium has been rumbling on for a very long time but the commencement of a public debate represents actual movement.

There has been recent suggestions that the stadium could instead be built on a different part of the city to San Siro.
