Inter defender Milan Skriniar will sign a new contract with the club by the end of the current season and be a contender to captain the side next season, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported today by Tuttosport, Milan Skriniar will be the next big player at Inter to renew his contract after the likes of Lautaro Martinez, Marcelo Brozovic, Nicolo Barella, and Alessandro Bastoni all did the same.

It is not a matter of urgency but the talks will begin in the near future and are not expected to be very complicated.

It is expected that Samir Handanovic will not be the captain next season and the two major candidates to replace him are Milan Skriniar and Nicolo Barella.

To suit the role, Milan Skriniar could move to the centre of the back three if Stefan de Vrij is sold by the Nerazzurri this summer.
