AC Milan could swoop and sign Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca this summer should Inter not move fast enough for him.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Rossoneri are prepared to rival the Nerazzurri for the 23-year-old’s signature.

Inter have been working for some time to try and convince the Neroverdi on a deal for Scamacca during the summer transfer window, but despite the good relations between the clubs it has been difficult.

The Neroverdi have slapped an asking price of €40 million on the 23-year-old, and are not keen on a loan deal with an obligation to buy him permanently.

According to the Gazzetta, this could mean that the Nerazzurri would have to sell an attacker in order to make a move for Scamacca financially feasible.

Should the Nerazzurri not act to sign the striker, their city rivals could swoop them, especially considering the player has indicated that he prefers to stay in Italy to a club abroad but not necessarily that he has his heart set on Inter specifically.
