Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella and defender Alessandro Bastoni are remaining with the Italian national team squad for their friendly clash with Turkey on Tuesday.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the pair are not among the players who have departed from international duty early after a disappointing elimination from World Cup qualifying.

All three of Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, Lazio striker Ciro Immobile, and Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne have left the Azzurri squad and won’t travel to Turkey for the scheduled friendly.

These three departures could well be signals for the future with the national team potentially moving forward by phasing out players who were essential to the victory at last summer’s European Championship.

However, both Barella and Bastoni are among the players who have decided to finish their scheduled national team duty even if they do not end up appearing against Turkey.
