Legendary former AC Milan head coach Arrigo Sacchi feels that the current Rossoneri squad is not at the same level of quality as those of rivals Inter, Napoli, and Juventus.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Sacchi praised the job done by current Rossoneri boss Stefano Pioli to have the team top of the table ahead of their main rivals.

Pioli inherited a Milan team that were stuttering in form under former coach Marco Giampaolo, and he’s had to deal with a team constructed on a limited budget, including seeing key men depart on free transfers.

Their rivals in Serie A have all operated on similar financial constraints as well, with Inter’s summer sacrifices in the transfer market having been quite significant.

However, in the view of Sacchi, there is still a gap in quality between the Rossoneri’s squad and those of their rivals.

“Pioli is achieving a minor miracle,” he said, “because on a technical level and in terms of experience, Milan are inferior to all of Inter, Napoli, and Juve.”
