Fiorentina attacking midfielder Riccardo Saponara feels that his team could have gotten more than just a point from their match with Inter before the international break.

Speaking to Tuscan regional broadcaster RTC38, Saponara gave the view that La Viola’s performance would have been worth a win potentially.

Fiorentina will not have turned their noses up at a point taken from the San Siro against Inter, whilst the Nerazzurri were disappointed by the result especially as it came during a run of particularly bad form in the context of their season.

However, it could well have gone worse for Inter, and better for Fiorentina, with the away side having looked in the ascendancy particularly in the first half and taken the lead before the Nerazzurri equalized and then pushed for a winner.

In the end the two sides had to settle for sharing the points, but Saponara can’t help but feel that something more was there for he and his teammates.

“The Milan match gave us a lot of confidence,” he said. “Based on what we saw on the pitch we could have taken home even more, but it allowed us to go into the break in a calm mood.”
