Legendary former Inter goalkeeper Ivano Bordon feels that the match between his old side and Juventus this weekend will be pivotal for both teams’ seasons.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Bordon gave the view that the clash will likely have a big effect in determining the fates of both sides at the top of the Serie A table, and that the Nerazzurri are still serious Scudetto contenders.

The Nerazzurri go into their match against Juventus three points behind Napoli, six behind AC Milan, and just one ahead of the Bianconeri.

A loss would mean that they would slip into fourth while even a draw would guarantee that they would risk falling further behind in the Scudetto chase, albeit still having a game in hand on all three rivals in the top four.

Meanwhile, the Bianconeri will be looking at Sunday’s match as an opportunity to consolidate their place in the top four and give themself further hope in the Scudetto race, whilst dropped points would likely rule them out of title contention and also potentially let the teams behind them in.

“It will be decisive for both teams, but I think as always it will be very evenly-fought,” Bordon predicted. “I hope it will be a good match, but due to its importance it could be cagey. Both sides can get a result, there’s no favourite.”

On the Nerazzurri’s drop-off in form, Bordon analyzed that “It may have been mental fatigue, and certainly also physical. They’re not as good as they were before.”

“The movement of the team is not as fluid,” he went on, “but we are talking about Inter because they have had a bad period, though every team has had phases where they haven’t looked at their best.”

“Certainly now they can no longer afford mistakes,” he added.

On the Scudetto chances for his old side, Bordon predicted “Theirs are as good as Milan’s or Napoli’s.”
