Inter midfielder Matias Vecino is set to make his return to training in the next couple days after testing negative for COVID-19.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the 30-year-old will not travel with the Uruguayan national team to Chile and will instead return to training with the Nerazzurri.

Vecino had to withdraws from Uruguay’s national team at the start of the break after he tested positive for COVID, and went into a period of self-isolation.

The midfielder has now ended the mandatory period of self-isolation and tested negative for COVID, but he will still not be able to make the trip to Chile where his team will face their last qualifier for the World Cup due to travel restrictions.

Accordingly, the Uruguayan is set to make the flight back to Milan and should be back in training ahead of Sunday’s Serie A clash with Juventus shortly.
