Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is a target for La Liga giants Atletico Madrid this summer.

This according to TyC Sports journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, who reported in a tweet that the Colchoneros will likely move for the 24-year-old if they secure a Champions League spot and that he could be sold for financial reasons.

Atletico were among the clubs to have targeted Martinez last summer, but in the end the Argentine stayed at Inter and signed a contract extension until the end of June 2026 during the fall.

However, the Spanish side’s interest in the striker has not dissipated, and should they finish the season in a top four spot then he will be a major name on their transfer list.

Martinez is happy at Inter and would not push for an exit, but the club could decide to sell him for financial reasons if a substantial offer comes in for him.

Merlo’s tweet reads, “Atletico Madrid inquired again about Lautaro Martinez and want to sign him by June if they reach the Champions League.”

“The footballer is happy at Inter,” he goes on, “he has four and a half years left on his contract, and right now he’s not thinking about leaving,” he goes on.

“The only thing that would change his mind is if his club want to make money with his sale,” Merlo adds,
