Former Italy and Torino coach Gian Puero Ventura believes that Inter have the advantage of a strong squad as they head into the decisive weeks of the Serie A title race.
Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera in an interview published in today’s print edition, Ventura suggested that the Scudetto race is essentially evenly-balanced but that the Nerazzurri’s squad could be decisive.
Inter have three points to make up on Napoli and six on city rivals AC Milan, albeit with a game in hand on each.
The Nerazzurri can boast strong options in just about every position, and while the Rossoneri and the Partenopei have also proven that they have top players this season, they are perhaps a bit behind in this respect.
Ventura believes that this is the principal quality that Inter have going for them if they hope to get the better of the two teams ahead of them, albeit also that there is one key position in which they look light.
“I think it’s a three-way race,” he said of the fight for the Scudetto. “Inter lack a real backup for Brozovic but otherwise they are the team with the best squad.”
He went on that “Their match against Juventus in Turin will be decisive. A win would be a significant injection of confidence, but if they lose everything becomes more difficult for them.”
