Former Roma defender Sebastiano Nela feels that should AC Milan gain any more ground on Inter and Napoli at the top of the Serie A table they could start to pull away.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Vikonos Web Radio, Nela gave the view that the Nerazzurri and the Partenopei may not to be able to afford falling any further behind to the Rossoneri.

Inter and Napoli each have one of their hardest matches left for the season, at least on paper, in front of them when they return from the international break.

The Nerazzurri travel to face Juventus away, whilst the Partenopei face Atalanta, who still have a realistic shot at finishing in the top four.

Meanwhile, Milan have the comparatively less imposing fixture of Bologna at home, and they could be feeling that if they can take their three points while their rivals fail to they can take more control in the Scudetto race.

“Now everything counts,” Nela said, “the top three teams cannot miss their opportunities. If Napoli and Inter draw and AC Milan win, they could become difficult to catch.”
